Corporation-wide
networking via intranet and internet allows to interchange data and
information between every workstation and server system. The growing
amount of documents located on each computer, which are containing
company relevant knowledge, emphasizes the need for a flexible management
of these files and directories.
As
a part of the MetaModules product family we provide a web based
content management archiving solution, which integrates the files
and directories of each workstation into a corporate-wide management.
This ensures a secure storage on optical or magnetic archives including
versioning and document sharing.
Compatibility
This solution is compatible with the Microsoft Office-Products,
the MS Share Point Portal Server and supports the WebStorage Web-DAV-Protocol
of MS Exchange 2000.
Configuration
By using the Web Based Content Management solution it is possible
to set up corporate-wide portals with no engineering and minor configuration
efforts. These portals allow to share documents and also well controlled
access to any published information.
The user management of the operating system is enhanced to control
access to files and directories. Documents can be assigned to categories
and can be searched by keywords.
Archiving
The archiving process is instantly done when documents or data
is transferred to the Sharepoint Portal Server. Only a small stub
resides on the server site, this ensures a high performance of the
portal even in the case of a huge data amount. On an access, this
data will be retrieved from the archive and redirected to the requesting
user. Archiving can be configured for single documents as well as
for directories or directory structures. These settings can be modified
by a SharePoint coordinator.
No Need for
Client Installations
A comfortable web-browser user interface is provided. The integration
into the Windows Desktop is provided by enhancing the context menus
to gain access to the file versions. Both mechanisms are easy and
intuitively to use and there is no need for a special user training.
Storage Components
No matter what kind of archiving system you use: the management
of the storage components can be done completely independent from
the portal solution.
